Philosophy

The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child's own natural desire to learn.

Welcome to Red Bambini Montessori International School

Red Bambini Montessori International School, formerly known as Rainbow International Montessori School, was founded in 1993, began by serving just 5 students. For over 30 years the school has evolved to having over 2,800 graduates.

Our comfortable yet innovative classroom environment encourages diversity, collaborative learning, freedom for a child to question, think critically, and to express themselves confidently. These principles developed by Dr. Maria Montessori over 100 years ago is designed to stimulate interest and ability to focus on a child’s individual talents and abilities.

The Montessori teaching methodology is uniquely based upon “discovery” through Montessori materials versus strict instructions. These elements all come together to create a truly distinctive and remarkable approach to education.

Our teachers are Montessori trained and certified and are dedicated to creating an environment that fosters a child’s independence and build confidence during this crucial developmental stage in their lives.

Welcome!
It is with great pleasure to invite you to discover our Red Bambini Montessori family.
Dr. Maria Montessori is one of the first woman physicians and educators in Italy who opened the first Montessori school in Rome. She spent many years observing and working with children, and her method captured my interest. I have raised 3 children, and during that time, English nurseries/preschools and Montessori kindergartens were very difficult to find. Therefore, I decided to open a school of my own after receiving my MCI Montessori diploma and studying early childhood education.
Our school has had over 2,800 graduates varying from 40 different nationalities. Most of them attended universities at well-known schools abroad spanning from the U.S.A., Europe, Africa, Canada, Australia, and many more. I am truly amazed that up to now, most of them are still connected with each other.

We are located in the heart of Tokyo, inside Tokyo Tower. Our goal is to offer both a traditional Montessori education along with various after-school programs. Our classes are taught in English and classes are set in a comfortable environment which helps promote the smooth transition from home to school life. Red Bambini Montessori supports working parents; we are open from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. If you are interested in visiting our school, please make an appointment by completing the tour registration form on our website. We welcome you and your child to the world of Montessori!

I am a big fan of the Montessori method. I am fascinated with the way children thrive when they have the freedom to choose their own work. The children feel at home and comfortable in class and work at their own level of understanding and development, so they never feel the pressure of working, but enjoy every task they complete. The Montessori materials are unique, captivating, and beautiful. All materials are designed to encourage the use of the child’s imagination.
Here at Red Bambini Montessori International School, we promote the joy of learning. Children who experience the joy of learning develop self-confidence in themselves and their work. It is important for children to have lots of fun and an enjoyable experience at school, so they can come to understand that school is a place for fun while learning. We understand each child is unique, and we respect each child as an individual with their own interests. In our classrooms children have the freedom to make their own choices, develop skills at their own pace, and learn to be more independent with the guidance of their teachers.
We welcome you to Red Bambini Montessori International School; the wonderful world of Montessori!

Having attended Red Bambini Montessori (formerly Rainbow International School and Chateau Des Bambini Montessori School) as a child, our school holds a special place in my life. After moving from Tokyo to Maui at the age of 3 I continued my Montessori education until the 8th grade. After graduating university, I continued my studies in Montessori where I received my AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) diploma. I feel lucky to have been raised around Montessori as it offers a student-centric approach to learning where the teacher’s role is to guide children throughout the environment and allow a child to discover, explore, and absorb knowledge. We offer an environment where children have the freedom to develop life skills and allow them to grow to their greatest potential. We aim to offer children the experience of Montessori during the regular school day and various activities through our After-School programs (after 3:00pm) such as soroban (abacus) class, Chinese class, dance/yoga, and Japanese class.
