A Montessori classroom with mixed age groups encourages interaction and learning from their peers. This gives the younger child the opportunity to learn from the older child as well as giving the older child an opportunity to be a role model.
In Montessori, we believe each child develops at his or her own pace. Therefore, classes are set up so that children can choose the materials they are most interested in, while at the same time working in an environment where they can work without interruption. Some activities are made to be completed as a group while other works are made to be done individually.
“Real materials” such as glass, sharp pointed objects, etc. are used in the classroom to give real life experience. Using these materials, the child becomes more aware of their actions and aids in self-control, and care for the environment.
A Montessori education fosters self-discipline, social skills, and independence which help a child successfully handle the transition to a more traditional school.
All teachers at Red Bambini Montessori School are Montessori trained and certified, enabling them to guide children to activities and materials that are appropriate for their stage of development.
