After-School Program

After-School Program

Red Bambini Montessori International School offers a variety of afterschool activities starting at 3:30 p.m. Children attending Japanese elementary schools or international elementary schools are welcome to join us.

If you would like to enroll your child in our After-School program, please make an appointment for a school tour and fill in the enrollment application.

Abacus Class

Abacus is a great way to develop your math skills! Learn how to visualize math, develop solid fundamentals, and eventually do mental math like a champ! Gain confidence in your mathematic abilities while having a great time. All classes are conducted in English, but we will provide support in Japanese if needed. Once a certain level is reached, students can also learn flash arithmetic (anzan).

This class is taught by Mr. Tom Sato.

Born in New York, Tom grew up around soroban as his mother runs several soroban schools in N.Y. called “The Soroban School”. He started soroban in elementary school and studied economics at university. He returned to Japan to continue teaching soroban. He is currently a reader of Japan’s Christmas Cup and English Reading Arithmetic Contest. He has won the N.Y. tournament and the U.S. tournament and won many prizes.

Chinese Class

Chinese class focuses on conversation, phrases, and pronunciation using materials developed by Beijing Language and Culture University. Every year children have the opportunity to take the Youth Chinese Test “YCT” which tests for language proficiency (listening, reading, writing). Also available for elementary and middle school students.

This class is taught by Zhang Yan (Hiro Ikesue).

A graduate of Sophia University and Peking University. In addition to her many years of experience as a Chinese – Japanese interpreter and Chinese language teacher for Japanese companies, Ms. Ikesue also teaches Chinese at home to her own three children.

Japanese Language Class

This is a Japanese class for students whose primary language is English and also for students whose primary language is Japanese but attend international schools and would like to maintain or advance their Japanese abilities. This class will focus on reading, writing (hiragana, katakana, kanji), and speaking. Students will also learn Japanese through proverbs “karuta”, Japanese classic stories, children’s songs, shoka, and traditional games. This class is for children ages 3 to 9 years old. We also offer focused classes for children preparing for elementary school entrance exams.

Japanese class is taught by Ms. Taki Usami, a graduate of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University who is also a certified Montessori AMI teacher who studied in San Diego, California.

Dance and Yoga Classes

This class will focus on rhythm, freestyle, choreography, and yoga. With a performance held once a year!

Programming Class

[Beginners Course: Block Coding]

This beginner’s course covers: 

  • Fundamentals of coding 
  • Programming logic
  • Coding vocabulary 
  • Code logic puzzles 
  • Using scratch to program simple games eg. Snake, bouncing balls, and more!

This course consists of 10 classes. Upon completion of all classes, students will receive a certificate of course completion.

This course is taught by:

Jake Underland: Bilingual (JP/EN), studied at Waseda University & University of Chicago. Engineer, IT tutor. Areas: Coding fundamentals, Backend development, Numerical programming (stats/machine learning and algorithms, modeling). Languages: Python, Golang, C++.

Ali Jummah: Trilingual (ENG/Arabic/JPN). Founder of a game development studio in Saudi Arabia.

Summer Session and Winter Camp

Now offering Winter Camp for children 12 months to lower elementary (up to 3rd grade). We also welcome you to join us for Summer Session (June, July, August). Our Montessori trained and certified teachers will guide children through Montessori lessons, holiday activities, and many more!
